Among upcoming debuts of a Russian, currently German based conductor Valentin Uryupin - Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden, Bayerische Staatsoper, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, New National Theatre Tokyo.
He also returns to conduct Rundfunk- Symphonieorchester Berlin, ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, Teatro Regio Torino and Frankfurt opera.

The highlight of the 2022-23 season was an acclaimed production of Tchaikovsky's The Enchantress in Frankfurt
Opera, after enjoying success there last season with Oedipus Rex and Iolanta. Debuts also took Valentin to the Rundfunk-Symphonieorchester Berlin (Sony Classical recording debut), Gulbenkian orchestra, Teatro Regio Torino, Prague Radio Orchestra, Arena di Verona Orchestra, Phion - Orkest van Gelderland & Overijssel, with whom he tours, Staatsorchester Darmstadt and to the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. In addition, he is again working with the Enescu Philharmonic as a soloist and conductor, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, with whom he continues the work on a complete recording of Alfred Schnittke's violin works with Friedemann Eichhorn and Vadim Gluzman.
The winner of the Solti international conducting competition in Frankfurt in 2017, Valentin collaborates with such orchestras as Wiener Symphoniker, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, DSO Berlin, Nederlands Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony, Tapiola Sinfonietta, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Bolzano Haydn Orchestra, Orchestra della Swizzera Italiana, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, RTE Orchestra Dublin, Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe and Philharmonie Zuidnederland. As an opera conductor, he has led highly acclaimed productions at the Stuttgart State Opera (Die Liebe zur drei Orangen), at the Bregenz Festival (Eugene Onegin, 2019 and Siberia, 2022) and in Teatro Real Madrid.

In Russia, Valentin has conducted leading orchestras, such as Russian State Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra, musicAeterna and many others. In 2021, he led Russian Youth National Symphony Orchestra during Orchestra’s Lucerne Festival debut, subsequently after the debut CD release with Tchaikovsky Sixth symphony.

He was a Principal conductor of Rostov on Don Symphony Orchestra from 2015 to 2021. During his tenure the Orchestra increased the audience, done a lot of educational projects for young people, established annual Open air concerts, MOST International festival, extensively toured. Also Valentin Uryupin and Rostov symphony made their Naxos recording debut, delivering cello concertos by Ghedini, Malipiero and Casella with cellist Nikolay Shugaev.
In 2021-22 he held the position of Principal conductor in Moscow Novaya Opera Theatre. Highlights of the season included Russian premieres of Korngold Die Totestadt and Saariaho La Passione de Simone, Massenet Cendrillon, ballet performances of Rite of Spring and new symphonic cycles, which included all Prokofiev Symphonies as well as Mahler Third.

Valentin collaborates with Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Thomas Hampson, Bryn Terfel, Barbara Hannigan, Vadim Gluzman, Asmik Grigiryan, Lars Vogt, Marc-Andre Hamelin, Denis Matsuev, Nikolay Lugansky, Vadim Repin, Sergey Khachatryan, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Pepe Romero, Elisso Virsaladze and other prominent musicians.

Valentin Uryupin is an exceptional musician in two respects: before he stepped on the conductor's podium, he won more than 20 international competitions as a clarinetist and performed as a soloist worldwide with such orchestras as Munich Chamber Orchestra, Geneva Chamber Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Beijing Philharmonic and many others, under the baton of Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Teodor Currentzis, Maxim Emelyanachev, Jon Storgards and Howard Griffits.

In view of his numerous conducting engagements, his performances as a soloist are increasingly rare. However, Valentin Uryupin can occasionally be seen in play-direct concerts. Also he is a passionate chamber musician.

Valentin was born in 1985 in Lozovaya, Ukraine. He graduated from Moscow conservatory as a clarinet player and a conductor. His teachers were Gennady Rozhdestvensky, whom Valentin assisted during last ever concert in Moscow, Vladimir Neymer and Evgeny Petrov.

Among his mentors Valentin names also Vladimir Jurowski, Teodor Currentzis and Valery Gergiev, whom he assisted, and Kurt Masur, whose last-ever masterclass was attended by Valentin in 2015.
